History:

Helena's life began in a lab, as part of a human cloning experiment called Project Leda. However she was raised outside the project, as her birth mother, Amelia, fled from the project when she realized that the twin daughters she was carrying were in danger. When the babies were born, she gave one, Sarah Manning, to the state foster system. The other, Helena, she gave to the church.

Helena lived in a convent in Ukraine for the first twelve years of her life and she was not treated kindly. Eventually, she was discovered and taken by members of the Prolethean movement, who believed the human cloning experiment went against the will of God. Under the guidance of Tomas, Helena was brainwashed into believing she was the original and that all the other Leda clones were abominations. She was then trained as an assassin, with the goal of eliminating all the other clones.

In Europe, Helena was able to kill at least four Leda clones. She then followed Katja Obinger to Canada. After killing Katja, Helena set her sights on who she thought was Beth Childs. However, upon discovering that Beth was in fact Sarah, Helena backed off. She felt a connection with Sarah that later proved based in fact, as they two discovered that they are identical twins. Soon after, Helena killed Amelia, at which point Sarah shot her.

Helena survived the gunshot but only because she is a mirror twin and as such her major visceral organs are from their normal positions. Helena managed to make it to a hospital for treatment, at which point she again fell into Prolethean hands, though this time it was the New Order of Proletheans, lead by Henrik Johanssen. Henrik believes that science and God's will could go hand in hand and sought to use Helena to create a new generation of children, as it was known that Sarah was fertile, unlike the other Leda clones. To further this goal, Henrik artificially inseminated Helena with one of her eggs, fertilized with his sperm.

Helena eventually escaped from the Proletheans and found Sarah, who was shocked that her sister was still alive. Helena was eventually introduced to several of the other Leda clones, who she finally accepted as her "sestras." However, this reunion was short-lived, as it was revealed that there was a military cloning experiment, called Project Castor, that had created male clones. In exchange for a promise to leave Sarah and her daughter alone, Sarah's foster mother gave Helena to Project Castor.

Helena was sent to a base in Mexico, where she met the leader of Project Caster, Dr. Virginia Coady. Several tests are done on Helena and it is confirmed that she is pregnant. Eventually, Sarah also arrives at the base and she and Helena work out an escape plan. At first, Helena plans to leave Sarah behind, because she believes Sarah was the one who gave her to the military. However Helena eventually decides to return for her twin and they escape together.

Helena then went to stay with another Leda clone, Alison. While there, Helena began to bond with Alison's children, as she also begins to think about turning over a new leaf now that she is going to be a mother. However, this new leaf has to wait as first Helena ends up massacring a drug lord and his operation after they threaten the Hendrix children. She also becomes part of a plan with her sisters to get rid of Project Caster once and for all, taking down the most dangerous Castor clone, Rudy, in a "prison rule's" fight. With this done, Helena and her sestras finally begin to feel safe again.

Personality:

In many ways, Helena is very child-like. She enjoys being silly, laughing at terrible jokes, and eating as much sugary foods as she can get her hands on. She also gets along great with children and loves to goof around and play with them. She also has the tendency to react emotionally to situations rather than logically, which can led to her lashing out in rage against those she thinks have wronged her, as well as anything she doesn't understand.

Helena has a very simplistic view of the world, seeing it as black-and-white rather than shades of grey. This is due to the fact that she was abused throughout her childhood and adolescent, meaning that she never really had the chance to properly grow up. Her eyes have been opened somewhat since she met Sarah and her other sisters, especially after she became pregnant, but she has found it easier to say she walks a new path than to actually do it.

Her simple world view also led Helena to be very single-minded, particularly in her goals. When being used by the Proletheans to kill the other clones, she is an unstoppable killing machine, never questioning what she had been told to do. The only reason she initially spares Sarah is that her goal at the time is to kill Beth, whom Sarah was impersonating. This mistaken identity disrupts the plan and leads to Helena disregarding her initial goal entirely, as she does not try to harm Sarah again until their fight concerning Anita's death. And later, even though Sarah tried to kill her, Helena is still driven to reconnect with her twin.

Currently, Helena's greatest dream is to be happy with her sestras and to be a good mother, as her new family has become the most important thing in her life, something she will do whatever necessary to protect. It did take awhile for her to fully integrate into the family, due to her past and lack of "normal" social skills making it hard for the others to accept her. However, Helena never seems to notice when someone is uncomfortable around her. Between her protectiveness and her child-like manner, the other "Clone Club" members eventually accepted her, even the often reluctant Allison.

Despite her more child-like qualities, Helena is a ruthless killer. She is not, however, a cold blooded killer as she often kills out of rage. She also enjoys the violence, taking pleasure in her ability to beat down others. Because of all this, she has few qualms about turning to lethal force as the first option.

Finally, Helena has a very confused perception of herself that adds to her emotional and psychological instability. She once thought she was special as the original but now knows she is also a clone. In times of stress, or when she believed she needed to be punished, Helena has used razor blades to cut into the skin on her back, creating the image of two wings made up of scars.

Abilities:

Helena has been trained for years as an assassin. This had led to her being proficient in hand-to-hand combat as well as fights with knives. She is also very capable with a sniper rifle. Finally, she is very flexible and strong, able to force her way out of tight situations (both literal and figurative).

Flaws:

Helena is psychologically and emotionally unstable, leading to her being volatile and unpredictable. She often uses violence as the first (and usually final) solution to her problems. She has also mutilated her back in persistent acts of self-injury. Finally, she has severe trust/abandonment issues issues.
